Here it is - the talking crow? Magpie? video!

On April 18, 2010, Ken, my sister and I ran across a talking crow or maybe a Magpie (?) who kept saying "hello!" to us on the Loop Trail in Wenatchee. How weird is that?

Well, here is the proof. Let me know what you think.

And here is a little bit more of him in Hello 2:

And just for yucks, some frogs in the swampy marsh area. Love those spent cattails, and the one frog that was real close and real...croaky sounding like he needed a cough drop!

Well, that's all for now. Coming up - the Bunny Chronicles.

To be continued....

Angels & demons re-write

Here I go on #6.

Lucky number is supposed to be 3, right? Well, this is double that, so should be doubly lucky! LOL

This time:

Brian and Justin are lovers at the outset - Justin's not pining for Brian, but their relationship has hit a rut. He pines for the more intense and passionate relationship they used to have, and wants it back.

Unbeknownst to him, so does Brian. The question is, what lengths will Brian go to to get that back that Justin doesn't know about?

Also, Justin isn't expelled from Heaven, he's sent down to Earth by the Archangel to do a top-secret job. We have to find out more about that later, and it has to become clearer that the Archangel is in super duper trouble if something doesn't happen fast!

And Doth is yet again relegated to side-kick. Or maybe a possible menage partner? Or maybe he's just a catalyst who gets everything going again. Still, he has his powers though he resists becoming vegetarian again like a stubborn kid. Time for Doth to grow up!

More later,

And here's some eye candy!

Skewered by my writer's group

A nice turn of phrase now and then. Check.
Character that seem real, full of life. Check.
Characters that do things that make sense. Not so much.

Why can't I win the lottery and just spend the rest of every day trying to figure out characters? 'Cause, well, it's gonna take me a damn long time from the looks of things.

Now, I can do character worksheets all day long. I can fill 'em out, barely, but I can do it.
I can give them motivations - i.e, things to do - as far as the plot.
But they simply don't act like a real person would, or they flip-flop, or they are just kinda flaky.

*raises hand* " mean, like me?"

Nobody told me that's one of the dangers of writing fiction - that your characters can be as goofy as you are yourself!

What do you mean they can't just change their minds and love the guy on page 44 with no prior shift outlined for the reader? Can't the reader just "go with it?"

"Okay, well, they just felt like it." Heh heh.

Dis iz how I feelz: I've been roasted!

Okay, so, back to the drawing board.

I'm gonna try to make them happy, even though I just want to tell them all to eat cake!

What's horrible about all is that what Larry Brooks said during his WOTR workshop was so true. He had me pegged, baby! And no, not about bacon! LOL Not about characters either, but about pantsting. Yep.

He said, pantsting is a damn long way to find your story and your characters.

Yep. I agree.

I'm currently plotting.... maybe SOME DAY I'll figure out the characters. For now, it's back to the drawing board for me.

Love ya,

Note: no guinea pigs were hurt during the writing/mental vomiting of this blog post! Namaste!

(This one is from for all signs)

Hmmm this does sound vaguely applicable, at least the first part:

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010 -- The Moon's entry into intense Scorpio raises the emotional stakes by reminding us of what we don't have. We may not be willing to settle for less than what we want, so we could overreact and cut our losses rather than trying to improve the current situation. The willful Sun's uncomfortable quincunx to ruthless Pluto adds a sense of urgency to our struggles today. Nevertheless, we can overcome the negativity by focusing on compassion rather than fear.

I have no idea what a quincunx is, but it sounds kinda dirty to me! LOL

The Libra one wasn't much more helpful. Sigh. When will they ever get those right?

P.S. I had bacon tonight!

I feel like some Pogues

This song seems appropriate to me right now. Mellow, sad, rainy, etc.

Or if not that one, then certainly this one:

One of my all-time Pogues favorites!

I'm back....!

Dear Bratty Friends,

I'm back! Just for the week. Can't let my blog expire totally you know...

Besides, I had BACON twice yesterday and I'm feeling rather...frisky despite all the havoc:

1) being rear-ended on Thursday
2) girl troubles
3) deadlines at work
4) having high cholesterol! (*snickers* I had bacon for breakfast today too!)
5) oh yeah, and I actually did yardwork in Saturday. Yardwork! I also hit myself in the face with a cardboard box and gave myself a fat lip too. Ouch! How the heck???

Oh, cruel world. Why do you tempt me so with crunchy salty bacon? Don't you know that I can't resist?

I just bet you do!

P.S. Finally read Myla by Moonlight by Inez Kelley this weekend. I think she whacked that nail pretty hard. You might check it out here, just to see what all the fuss about the lilac mist is about!

BTW I can't wait to read Ginny Glass's Coin Operated from Carina Press. Yowsa! Should be a sudsy/steamy read.
